Uniform & Equipment Information

Additional Softball Equipment Details

  • Fielder's Masks are commonly called Rip-Its, the name of a popular brand of mask.  Fielder's masks protect the player's face while playing defense in the field.  KMGSA requires the use of a fielder's mask by all position players.  Fielder's masks should be BLACK in color.
  • Batting helmets are provided by KMGSA at all age levels but most players prefer to provide their own.  Player provided batting helmets should be ROYAL BLUE in color and must have a face guard.  The face guard should be BLACK.
  • KMGSA will also provide appropriately sized bats at all age levels but most players prefer to provide their own.  Bats should be dual stamped with both USA (ASA) and USSSA to meet safety standards.  Please use the Bat Guide provided by Scheels to properly size your player's bat.
  • Softball pants, socks and belts should all be BLACK in color.
  • As players age-up, sliding becomes a critical part of the game.  While optional, a player may benefit from wearing sliding compression shorts under their softball pants.
  • Equipment should be labeled with the player's name.  This helps in locating the owners of lost equipment and assists the players in keeping track of their equipment during practice and games.  When all fielders masks are black on the team, for example, they can be easily misplaced.  Paint markers or a simple piece of athletic tape with permanent marker work well for this.
